Dr. Valerie Robbins Acker OD

Valerie was very friendly and thorough and presented herself as a very professional and competent practitioner, but the front-office staff seemed unprofessional and overall the office seemed disorganized. The theme of the morning was returning calls to customers who had called to inquire about their eyeglasses - all of which were apparently delayed.

She did excellent work, and I appreciated her recommendations.

Didn't realize when I booked this that it was a Georgia Tech student facility. Really small, slow, parking expensive, and just not up to par with the rest of my health care. Nowhere near the quality of Tech Dentistry. I would say it's partly my fault for not selecting the right office. Valerie seems to be a great optometrist however, so I don't mean anything badly to her.

She did a reasonable job as far as the eye exam was concerned. Of course, she did not sanitize her hands before touching around my eyes as part of the exam which is absolutely not acceptable. Also, the people who work in her office are not professionals at all. Plus, the pair of glasses I ordered were not delivered on time; basically delayed for almost two weeks. So, I will definitely not recommend buying your glasses/lenses from them.

I really enjoy going to see Dr. Val. Its not stale like other eye doctors. At those offices I feel like just another patient. At Dr. Val's office its like you are going to visit a friend who is checking your eyes.

After the eye exam, I got a stye on my left eye. I waited for over 2 weeks for the trial lens. They kept telling me the trial lens were coming in the following couple days and so on. Finally they arrived. After I got my trial lens, I ordered 8 boxes of contact lens through them. I still haven't gotten the contact lens from them after two months. Every time I called them, they told me the lens would come in on Thur or Fri and would call me back. Sometimes they couldn't find my record. I just don't know whether they had really ordered the lens for me. I have heard from my friends that they could not get their glasses until 6 months later. I almost ran out of contact lens when I went to see her. They gave me some random trial lens once and it wasn't the right prescription for me. I have astigmatism. The wrong prescription gave me headache.

I LOVED THE VISIT WITH MRS ACKER! HER AND HER STAFF MADE MY SONS FIRST VISIT TO THE EYE DR VERY GOOD, AND MADE ME VERY HAPPY AND FELT WELCOMED THERE. THEY WERE HAPPY TO HELP US AND MADE US FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE! THIS IS THE TYPE OF DRS THAT ALL DRS SHOULD TAKE NOTES FROM!

My visit was very quick and the doctor answered all of my questions.I was VERY pleased and look forward to having all of my eye care needs suplied by tech eye care.

It's a very small facility which is probably serving a larger audience than it's really built for (or maybe I just happened to come in at a busy time). But even so, the people there handled the situation extremely well and were always polite in spite of being a bit overloaded.

Dr. Acker was very professional and knowledgeable. She explained everything clearly and precisely and I left there feeling comfortable with the results of my examination and her recommendations.

Dr. Acker was very good with my 3 year old son. She explained the results thoroughly, and gave recommendations on next steps (glasses or not, etc) The other gentleman in the office was great with my son as well, and made him feel very comfortable. We were in and out quickly, but I felt they were very thorough and professional. I would definitely recommend them, although if you're not familiar with Tech campus, it's a little difficult to get to. Unless it's way farther, go to their other office.

The staff in the office are GREAT! Michael Acker is quite personable and he made the hour wait seem much shorter than it really was. Once I got to see Dr. Valerie Robbins-Acker she was awesome too. Dr. Acker gave a very thorough eye exam. Has some trouble with figuring out my insurance but she helped sort it out.

The total time spent from entering the office to having my glasses adjusted and paying for my exam was about one hour. Dr. Robbins Acker and Dr. Acker have always been friendly and professional, so I highly recommend their practice. However, today they seemed to lack an extra hand with reception and processing patient information. If they had a front desk assistant, they would be able to focus solely on the exams.

Dr. Robbins Acker was great. She was helpful and effecient and made me feel comfortable during my exam. As a Georgia Tech employee, the office location in the student center is perfect, and I even got a discount on my copay amount for the contact lens exam.

She did a detailed checkup and provided satisfactory report.

Dr.Valerie and Dr.Michael are excellent eye doctors.my 7yr old daughter and I both where new patients.We where seen immediately there was no long wait. They where very professional and friendly. This was my daughter 1st visit to a eye doctor and she was nervous, but doctor valerie and doctor michael was so good with her. I work monday through friday with my schedule its hard for me to get an appointment me during the week, but thank god their open on the weekend. their in a wonderful area for those without a vehicle their directly by east point train station. Your also able to pick your glasses there. My daughter has always had headaches and no one know why and it was because she needs glasses. Thank you dr.valerie and dr.michael you truly have patients for life because my son and husband also have appointments coming up and I will be recommending several patients to UNIVERSAL VISION CENTER.

Dr.'s Val & Mike are a great hubby/wife team, and because we're all from New Orleans, I've found them very personable, and extremely hospitable whenever I go in for my annual exam, or to pick up my contacts and supplies.

She was very nice and busy and she explain her procedures and what was taking place and answer all my questions.

I am mad at myself because I should have come here before since I am already on campus. I really did not know the office was full service until one of my co-workers told me. I did not have to wait. The staff provided excellent customer service.

The exam seemed thoroughly, but she wasn't as friendly as she could have been.

The glasses I ordered are over a week late. I have yet to receive any informative updates. Multiple voicemails have gone unreturned.
